The Salute To Freedom Task Force was founded in 1999 by Jim Bob Humphrey, president and general manager of Humphrey Funeral Service in Russellville, Arkansas. The mission of the Task Force is to honor and support all veterans and their families. The Task Force community based board of directors has a representative from the Rogers-Rye Post of the VFW, the Riggs-Hamilton Post of the American Legion, the local chapter of the DAV, the River Valley Chapter of the MOAA, the Pope County Veterans Representative and the Russellville Chamber of Commerce. Each year the Salute To Freedom sponsors the Russellville Veterans Day Parade and Celebration of Freedom Ceremony. Additionally the Task Force sponsors special projects as soldiers are deployed from or are coming home to the Arkansas River Valley Region.

    The Task Force leadership also works closely with the 1-206th Field Artillery Command and the 39th Infantry Brigade leadership of the Arkansas Army National Guard. The Task Force has filed for IRS 501(c)3 status which is pending.
